The mission of ProfBrown's STEMulation® is to increase the exposure of STEM-related fields to underrepresented youth.

ROBOTICS RESEARCH ENGINEER, GTRI

January 2018 - January 2020

Project Director, Virtual Reality Mission Planning Simulator

  • Managed a team of 4; Developed project scope; Tracked and managed budget against plan; Conducted close-out tasks.

  • Integrated the HTC Vive VR Headset and hand controllers with a multi-agent simulator using C#.

  • Developed intuitive gestures to control autonomous agents; Created a demo video of the product for potential sponsors.

Technical Lead, Robotic Arm Manipulator Software

  • Programmed UR5 robotic arm using C++ in the ROS framework to de-mold a microfluidic device from aluminum mold.

  • Led a group of 4 engineers; Drove design to completion as per committed schedule; Success led to $500K in funding.

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING, LSU

January 2017 - January 2018

  • Led a research group with 6 students: 4 graduate, 2 undergraduate; 1 student graduated and was accepted to Georgia Tech.

  • Taught undergraduate introduction to robotics course; 30 sophomore students; 95% pass rate.

  • Designed special topics graduate course about the benefits of robotics in healthcare; 7 students; 100% pass rate.

POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW, EMORY UNIVERSITY

January 2016 - January 2017

Technical Lead, Emory Healthy Aging Study

  • Collaborated with scientists to develop a system that monitors biomarkers (gait and eye gaze) for Alzheimer’s detection.

  • Developed a Windows application with C# that allowed a clinician to display an image set to patients.

  • Integrated The Eye Tribe camera into the UI with C# to track eye gaze while viewing image sets.

  • Analyzed the eye gaze data using machine learning techniques to observe any Alzheimer’s pattern for detection.

  • Delivered product to the customer and they are successfully using the system to collect and analyze eye gaze data.
